This achievement reflects the company's commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly development.
Neinor Homes has been granted its first BREEAM certification for the post-construction phase, with a 'Good' rating, for the Dehesa Homes residential development the company built in San Sebastián de los Reyes. These homes are currently being handed over to their owners.
This achievement is another step forward in the company's firm commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly development. It is also a very noteworthy milestone for Neinor Homes, as only 3 such certifications have been granted to this sort of multi-family housing developments in Spain to date.
Implementing the BREEAM seal has significant environmental benefits, as reduced energy consumption has a direct impact on the environment, and promotes many other initiatives to lower CO2 emissions as much as possible over the lifespan of the building, grouped into several categories.
So, for example, the transport measures take into account aspects such as location of the plot, access to public transport and encouraging cycling, among others. Those targeting waste reduction address aspects associated with storage before it is collected and treated; while those targeting pollution promote the use of refrigerants and insulation with low global warming potential, as well as low-emissions heating systems.
BREEAM® is an assessment and certification method for construction with more than 541,000 buildings certified in 77 countries since 1990. It promotes more sustainable construction that translates into a higher profit margin for those who build, operate and/or maintain the building; a reduction in the environmental impact; and greater comfort and wellbeing for those who live, work or use the building.
The company's relationship with this international certification body goes back to September 2015, when it signed a collaboration agreement with the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology, BREEAM®, joining their Spanish Advisory Board alongside representatives from other stakeholders interested in boosting sustainability in the construction sector.
Dehesa Homes, ‘Safe, Healthy Development’
Dehesa Homes specifically was granted certification accrediting its quality, with the 'Safe and Healthy Development' classification under the SPATIUM seal from SMDos consultancy backed by the IMQ international certification body.
For now, this is the first and only completed residential development to be granted this certification in Spain, and with the top rating (Exceptional). This makes Dehesa Homes a benchmark in safety and health.
Dehesa Homes is one of the first three developments Neinor Homes has handed over to owners. Located in San Sebastián de los Reyes, since it first went on the market in 2015, this development has attracted loads of interest for its design, strategic location and the features of the homes and common areas of this gated residential community.
It features 76 cutting-edge homes with large outdoor spaces on the ground floor and penthouses featuring exclusive views. Highlights of the complex include its gardens, large outdoor pool (20 metres long with night-time lighting), children's pool and play area, car park with electric charging stations and storage areas.
